75s). London: Butterworth. THIS is a most refreshing and interesting book to read as a textbook of minor surgery-a subject which can be neglected all too readily. The section under 'General Survey' deals with the subject in considerable detail, and the section under 'Regional Survey' describes the numerous so-called minor conditions seen under various headings, i.e. 'Head', 'Neck', 'The Eye', etc. One could not criticise this book except perhaps to mention that in some areas it seems to go beyond what might be termed 'minor surgery', e.g. the drainage of a pleural effusion. The reviewer hesitates to recommend yet another book to undergraduates, but they would find it helpful. Certainly it is a book for all general practitioners and all casualty departments. M.B.
